VOLKY is a two piece roots band from Sydney. Playing original folk, country, blues and reggae music from festivals to street corners, biker parties and dive bars, getting round bringing sunshine music and hootin and a hollering wherever they go. Think Sublime meets Bob Dylan while having a chat with Tom Waits. You’ll kick yourself if you miss these two at this year’s edition of Sunset Sessions. Featuring Volky Kozak – Guitars & Vocals with Freduado Lombardi – Drums & Percussion.
Since leaving her tiny, coastal home, Terry has been impressing her ever-growing audiences with her massive voice and beautiful songs. Her debut single ‘Emotion’, went to number one on the iTunes blues charts within hours. The sold out launch that followed proved why Terry has been nicknamed ‘Sydney’s first lady of blues’. Her spirited performances and clever writing have steadily gained recognition and support from audiences and peers alike. According to Grammy nominee Beth Hart, Alice Terry is “The real deal”. She has the ability to effortlessly combine the best parts of blues, folk, jazz and country to create this music which is both sexy and heartbreaking at the same time. Her long-awaited debut album “The Fear of..” will be released early 2018.
Presenting you with a new music project Nyree & The Ruby Red will take you on a journey to the Caribbean as they perform a mix of well-known tunes with a twist of jazz and Polynesian rhythms. Lead singer Nyree was born and raised in Sydney with Irish and Polynesian Maori roots. Growing up in a house surrounded by music, and influenced by her singing mother and musical brother, Nyree’s passion for music developed. She has been a backing singer for the past 20 years, touring right across the country performing at many music festivals in Australia and internationally performing for bands including Afro Moses Ojah Band and Gervais Koffi & the African Diaspora. For this year’s Sunset Sessions Nyree will be the lead as we farewell Sunset Sessions 2018 with some summer, reggae vibes.
